If you do a web search “hill running,” you’ll receive dozens of hits touting the benefits with regards to increasing speed and strength. The point of this article is not to reinvent the wheel, but to discuss how you can efficiently run hills without overcooking your legs and save them for the later portion of your race.

Jonathan Steeves, coach and team manager, started with Breakthrough Performance Coaching in 2008 as an athlete. He currently holds a Level I coaching certification with USA Triathlon. He started distance running in 2008 after reaching middle age and realizing he needed to make some changes in his lifestyle. His passion for endurance sports grew from there. Since that time he has completed numerous half marathons and half ironman distance triathlons. He is a multi-time Ironman and marathon finisher.
